Now it's your turn - Who is your nominee for The Honours 2023?

The Superyacht Life Foundation and the Monaco Yacht Show are inviting the superyacht industry, crew, owners and all other interested parties to put forward their nominations for the inaugural Honours, an awards ceremony that recognises the inspirational people of superyachting. Nominations are open until the 31st of March for everyone to put forward their suggestions for deserving candidates. Honourees will be celebrated during The Honours evening that will be hosted on 26 September 2023 in Monaco, on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show.

Nominations for The Honours can be for anyone within or connected to the superyacht industry but should reflect inspirational people doing exceptional things that mirror the exceptional nature of our global industry: think preserving the environment, developing communities, driving conservation, inspiring exploration and cultural understanding, advancing design and technologies, contributing to diversity and inclusion, and instigating positive change across the industry and beyond. The nominees should have achieved something that has had a tangible link to the superyacht industry within the past five years.

If you know an owner or charterer who has gone out of their way to promote a particular ocean conservation cause, for example, we would love to hear about them, or perhaps one of your fellow crew has been instrumental in overseeing a community outreach or environmental initiative that has made a real difference. You could nominate a scientist who has used a yacht as a platform for breakthrough research, or perhaps it is an owner or crew giving their yacht or their time for citizen science projects who you think deserve recognition.

Maybe it’s an owner or a designer who has been instrumental in developing new technologies or has pushed the boundaries of design in such a way that the positive benefits have been felt far beyond one individual project, or even the superyacht sector. Or perhaps it is someone who has changed perceptions within the industry on diversity or inclusion, or who has helped shape positive perceptions of superyachting to a wider audience. Above all, nominations should reflect remarkable people with remarkable stories to tell in and around the superyacht industry.

“We are proud to be involved in the organisation of The Honours for 2023. The Monaco Yacht Show will be committed to being a proactive protagonist to support the event. We believe The Honours will be a new milestone in superyachting’s history as this will be the very first award ceremony that distinguishes people behind the scene of yachting,” shares Gaëlle Tallarida, the Managing Director of Monaco Yacht Show.

“This is the perfect opportunity for the superyacht industry to recognise the very best of itself and to tell the positive stories of the nominees and Honourees to the wider world,” adds Dilan Saraç, Executive Director of the Superyacht Life Foundation. “By getting involved and nominating those people who reflect those values, it is a chance for all of us in the industry to play our part in changing the story of superyachting for a wider audience.”

Nominations will be carefully considered by an independent judging panel comprising leaders from all sectors of the superyacht industry, with three Honourees being selected to receive their award at the Honours evening celebration on 26 September 2023, the eve of the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show. The evening – which is sponsored by BWA Yachting, Feadship, Preciosa and RINA – will be an exclusive, experiential and intimate event with a twist – invitees will be taken on a journey as each recipient is recognised for their achievements, with storytelling playing a key role in the evening as each receives a coveted Bowsprit award.
